CEO & Founder
Daymon LaPoint is the President & CEO of LaPoint Railcar Cleaning & Storage. Mr. LaPoint is a known creative, out-of-the-box thinker that is responsible for the overall company vision and day to day operation.
Mr. LaPoint proudly served in the United States Navy (Aviation Structural Mechanic) before earning his Mechanical Engineering Degree at Northrup University in Inglewood, California. He has developed a diverse and skilled understanding of oil and gas logistics and facility operations over the last 28 years. He has firsthand project experience from concept, engineering and design through construction, start-up, commissioning and operations.
Prior to developing and implementing his vision at LaPoint, he served as the Engineering & Construction Director, overseeing construction and operation of crude oil railcar and barge loading, oil tank storage facilities, and other midstream operations and logistics. He also served as the Vice President of Midstream Development, leading construction and operations of various midstream logistics projects and facilities. Other positions that Mr. LaPoint has held include Director of Crude Oil Terminals and other logistics positions. He has led projects of up to $500 million from start-up through operation.
Mr. LaPoint is a member of the Houston Transportation Professionals Association, and member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Director of Finance
Thonda Harvey is the Director of Finance for LaPoint Railcar Cleaning & Storage. Mrs. Harvey is a results-focused management professional offering over 15 years of progressive leadership experience. She earned her Masters of Business Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2003, Mrs. Harvey began her career in industrial construction negotiating and managing contracts along with developing innovative methods to resolve challenges and increase efficiency. After serving in the construction industry 8+ years, Mrs. Harvey accepted the position of Manager of Administration with a crude transloading terminal in Port Arthur, TX. It was here that Mrs. Harvey gained valuable knowledge of the railroad, transloading, and petro-chemical industries. Mrs. Harvey has extensive experience in leadership, financial forecasting and reporting, contracts, cost control, and billing. She has held various management positions including that of Contracts Administrator, Manager of Administration, Program Manager, and AR/Billing Manager.
Vice President of Sales
Blake Shaver is the Vice President of Sales for LaPoint Railcar Cleaning & Storage and is responsible for day-to-day customer interface. Blake earned his Bachelors in Business Administration at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Blake began his career at a commercial real estate appraisal firm in Houston, Texas, but quickly moved into sales at National Pump & Compressor, the second largest specialty pump rental company in North America. In 2014, Blake furthered his sales career with United Rentals, the largest equipment rental company in the world, when they acquired National Pump & Compressor.
Blake is a member of the Houston Transportation Professionals Association.
Vice President of Business Development
Amy Escalera is the Vice President of Business Development for LaPoint Railcar Cleaning & Storage and is responsible for customer interface and business development. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a Bachelors degree in Film Production and Communication, Ms. Escalera worked as the Executive Creative Assistant at a Los Angeles based film & music entertainment company. In early 2008, Ms. Escalera switched her focus to the oil and gas industry by accepting a position as Director of Marketing/Media Relations for a privately held oil and gas exploration and development company located in Austin, Texas. Over the next 8 years, Ms. Escalera furthered her career in the energy sector by assisting in the start-up of two affiliate companies. In 2016, Ms. Escalera dedicated herself to further developing one of those start-up companies by serving as Executive Vice President of 5 Star OFS, LLC. until it was acquired by a large midstream group in 2018.
